Finished with Lawang Sewu, we visited another historical spot in Semarang. We finally arrived at GPIB Immanuel which is also known as Gereja Blenduk.

Gereja Blenduk

The name of Gereja Blenduk appeared because the shape of this church’s roof looks like a circle (Semarang people said membelenduk). Then the name of Gereja Blenduk became more famous than the real name, GPIB (Gereja Protestan Indonesia bagian Barat = Protestan Church in West Indonesia) Immanuel.

GPIB Immanuel

People said that the architecture of this church roof was the only one in the world, then this church visited by local and international tourists.

Wisata Karya bus stopped in front of Jiwasraya building which is as beautiful as Gereja Blenduk. We arrived there Sunday morning, that’s why we couldn’t enter the church because of there were praying.

Jiwasraya

When the bus stopped, all of the participants took the good position to capture the beauty of the church. If we can hear the sound of the shutter release, I believe the sound of that ‘ceklak ceklek’ would not be stop until we leaved that spot.

The good architecture was not only seen outside the building. Inside this church, we could see the beautiful angle, too.

Inside the Church

Eventough we visited Gereja Blenduk only for short time, I didn’t fell sorry for that. It would be as unforgettable as the visit to Lawang Sewu. Then, if I have a chance to back to Semarang, this church would included in the list of places to be visited.

From Gereja Blenduk, we continued to a kelenteng located in Gang Lombok which also famous with the super delicious lumpia. But….the detail of this story will be post in the next post. Just be patient then….

And as usual… I’ll be back… soon… =)
